Rodney L. Soulsby, 58, of Waynesboro, VA, "moved on" Sunday, July 01, 2012 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg, VA.

He was born August 4, 1953 in Fairdale, WV, a son of Edward Soulsby and Virginia Byrd Soulsby.

He was preceded in death by his father, and a grandaughter, Noel.

After retiring from the Metropolitan Police Department in DC, "Rod" moved to the Waynesboro area and opened New Age Auto in 2005 with his son and daughter. His favorite hobbies were restoring classic vehicles and fishing. His greatest passion were his 6 grandchildren: Lexi, Noel, Trentin, Chase, Juley and Kinley.

He is survived by his mother, Virginia Byrd Soulsby; son Rodney Soulsby, II and wife Ashlyn; daughter, Jennifer Soulsby and fiance Donnie Madison; grandchildren: Lexi, Trentin, Chase, Juley and Kinley. Also surviving are his sister, Cathy VanValzah; 4 brothers: Mike, Dave, Ed and Larry Soulsby; and countless friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 P.M. Friday, July 6, 2012 at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro.

A Celebration of Life will follow at 7:00 P.M. by Pastor Lee Nagy.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends bring cards with their favorite memory of "Rod."
